He obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University in 1994. He was a visiting scholar of University of Minnesota with Prof. Edward Cussler in 1997 and a visiting scholar in Chemical Engineering of California Institute of Technology with Prof. David Tirrell in 2009. He is the winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in China. He received the second prize of national excellent teaching achievements and the first/second level prize of provincial science and technology awards for several times in China. He won Houdebang Chemical Engineering Innovation Award in 2015. His research interest encompasses enzymatic catalysis, biomimetic and bioinspired membranes and membrane processes, and photochemical catalysis. He has co-authored over 400 peer-reviewed SCI papers, including Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Energy & Environmental Science, Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Catalysis, etc. Till now, the total citation time is over 10000, and h-index is 55. He is the team leader of membranes and membrane processes in National Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemical Science and Engineering (Tianjin). He is the editorial board member of 7 academic journals. He delivered more than 20 invited lectures in international conference, including 2014/2015 Gordon Research Conferences, the 13th/14th/15th/16th AIChE Annual Meeting, the 6th/7th/8th/9th Sino-US Joint Conference of Chemical Engineering, and so on. He has been in charge of more than 30 scientific research projects, including the National Science Foundation of China, the National Basic Research Program of China, the National High Technology Program of China.
