After two years engineer training at China National Machine Tool Corporation, he moved to Japan, and worked as an Engineer, and then, Researcher and Group Manager in Basic Technology Research Lab., KDK Corporation, Kyoto, Japan.In 2000, he became a Professor in College of Precision Instrument and Opto-Electronics Engineering, Tianjin University China, where he created and directed Biophotonics and applied spectroscopy Laboratory. From 2002 to 2011, he was Dean of College of Precision Instrument and Opto-Electronics Engineering, Tianjin UniversityCurrently, Prof Wang is a full Professor in the College of Precision Instrument and Opto-Electronics Engineering, Tianjin University, and directs the applied Spectroscopy Laboratory.
