He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Before that, he was a Research Fellow in Prof Salah Sukkarieh’s team at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics, University of Sydney (USYD); during his research stay at USYD, he was a leading researcher and major participant for a number of R&D projects on field robotics with applications in precision agriculture, among others. His research interests include robotic intelligent perception and decision making, robot audition, optimal filtering and estimation, advanced control methods and applications. He has published over 40 academic papers in major robotics and control journals and conferences. He was a co-recipient of Finalist for Youth Author Prize at the IFAC 1st Workshop on Robot Control in 2019. He is on the youth editorial board of the journal of Smart Agriculture.
