SAEID PIRASTEH

Adam/Saeid Pirasteh received his Ph.D. degree in geography (geoanalytics, Geomatics, and LiDAR) from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 2018, and in addition, a Ph.D. degree in geology (Remote Sensing and GIS) from Aligarh University, Aligarh, India, in 2004. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Geology (1998) and Master's Degree in Applied Geology with Remote Sensing (2000). He completed his postdoctoral in 2007 at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. Currently, he holds a professorship position at the Faculty of Geosciences and Environmental Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China. He is also a Research Scientist at the Geospatial Sensing and Data Intelligence Lab, University of Waterloo. In addition, Adam is an adjunct professor faculty at the Department of Geotechnics and Geomatics, Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, India. He is an expert member of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) Academic Network, a team member of UN Disaster Services, and the UN Open GIS-WG for GeoAI and Capacity Building. Adam was appointed by the ISPRS President as the Chair of the ISPRS ICWG III/IVa on Disaster Assessment, Monitoring and Management for 2023-2026. Adam has served as an evaluator at the Certification Committee of the Canadian Institute of Geomatics (CIG) since 2022. He is the inventor and co-founder of the Geospatial Infrastructure Management Ecosystem (GeoIME) Technology System (www.geoime.ca; https://app.georvs.ca/#/). He was an Instructor at the University of Calgary, Canada. He collected 22 years of experience in research, development, teaching, administration, management, leadership, social engagement, and supervision at various universities and industries in many countries. Saeid is a dynamic researcher with a diversity horizon. He has supervised more than 26 Ph.D. and M.Sc. students internationally. They are now contributing to various professional institutes, governmental bodies, and private sectors such as GIScience, geospatial information management, machine learning, deep learning, data science, and artificial intelligence etc. He works with undergraduate, graduate students, colleagues, and learners with diversity in culture, religion, nationality, age, and ethnicity
