He received his BSc (1999) and MSc (2001) from HIT, and his PhD (2005) from National University of Singapore. Before joining HIT in 2006, he had worked as the assistant project manager in C-PAK Company, Singapore for more than one year. He has conducted research at University of California Riverside during 2015-2016. His research interests are advanced separation membrane materials/processes and functional composite materials, with a particular focus on energy and environmental applications. Dr. SHAO has published >180 SCI-indexed papers in Science,Science Advances,Nature Communications, MATTER, PNAS, Advanced Materials,Angew Chem,Energy Environmental Science, Journal of Membrane Science,Chemical Engineering Science, Materials Today, Cell Reports Physical Science, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Materials Horizons, AIChE Journal etc. with the SCI citations > 12,000 and h-indes=70 and google scholar citation>13,000 .
